SolarEdge inverters report data to SolarEdge’s monitoring platform. SolarEdge’s monitoring platform supports a formal, well-defined API that Rewatt uses to collect site data.
In order for ReWatt to access a site, the user must supply Rewatt with an API key.
SolarEdge supports two kinds of API keys, a site specific API key and a user API key:
Site-specific API key: can only be used to access data for the site associated with the API key. A site specific API key is useful if the user wants to give Rewatt power access to one site or a small subset of sites.
User API key: can be used to access data for any site associated with the user account that generated the API key. A user API key is useful if the user wants to give Rewatt complete access to all their sites.
